In 1408, skeptical author Mike Enslin (John Cusack) specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences. While researching his latest book, he checks into room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel in New York City, despite warnings from hotel manager Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson). Initially dismissive of the room’s dark history, Mike soon encounters terrifying and inexplicable events that challenge his disbelief in the supernatural.

Based on Stephen King’s short story, the film relies on psychological tension rather than overt violence, delivering a genuinely creepy experience.
